Sew Art & Crafty
I have always loved art & craft and dabbled in lots of things, growing up as a child in Tasmania, amongst family members who all created in some form or other.... My Mother was a Dressmaker, both Grandmothers Knitted or Crocheted & my Grandfather was a Carpenter. My father painted, wrote stories & poetry and even knitted an odd jumper or two! Many of my ancestors were also well known writers & painters in their time so, I'd have been extemely disappointed if I hadn't been crafty in some way.
I always loved to draw but it wasn't until I was married with three young children that I turned to painting. I fell in love with Watercolour & enrolled in several courses later studying Art, Craft & Design. I went on to broaden my skills with training in Leatherwork, Photography & eventually, a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment.
I have had two successful solo exhibitions in Tasmania & have been part of many group exhibitions. I have artwork in various private collections throughout Australia, Japan & the UK. I moved to Western Australia in 2007 & later started my own business teaching Adults how to sew, draw, paint & do various other crafts including felting, crochet, patchwork, applique etc. This is very successful, with classes being held in Bunbury, Donnybrook, Mandurah & other areas of the SW.
I am always looking to experiment & work with different mediums. Powertex is a product that allows me to combine textiles & art to create amazing effects & designs. I am thoroughly enjoying learning more about & creating with this amazing medium & am pleased to add it to my course list. 'Being able to inspire others to create is my passion'.
