Denise Ryland - Powertex Distributer NSW & ACT
After many years working in the health profession as a nurse, Denise is finally pursuing her passion for art. She has always appreciated art, especially sculpture, and now leans towards creating paintings, sculpture and 'artful items' using mixed media. Denise first came across fabric sculptures two years ago, whilst on holiday in WA, and after many searches on the internet, she discovered the most exciting new medium in the visual arts - Powertex Textile Hardener.
Since Denise has discovered Powertex, she has worked with many different types of clay, plaster or mod rock as well as many recycled materials, incorporating fabrics using Powertex. She finishes off her pieces with a range of mediums including acrylic paint, patinas, Stone Art or "whatever else" she can find that's interesting. Whilst Denise identifies that her style leans towards the more abstract and figuratively abstract, she says that her imagination runs wild with possibilities taking her in many different directions! As she has learnt to experiment with various styles and worked with Powertex, her view of fabrics has changed dramatically. Denise says,
"...I am still learning, experimenting and loving it!"
Denise is now a Certified Powertex Trainer and Distributer for Powertex Textile Hardener in NSW and the ACT. She will be running classes in and around the Queanbeyan and southern NSW area as well as the ACT.
