Cleide Teixeira, Wanneroo, WA
Hi my name is Cleide Teixeira I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and migrated to Australia in 1989 with my husband and two daughters. After many years of running a business with my husband and raising a family I am finally pursuing my love of art. Now that our children are independent, I am in my final year of studying Contemporary Art at Edith Cowan University in Mount Lawley, WA.
As an artist I work with a variety of mediums such as acrylics, Genesis oil paints, inks, and mixed media including recycled materials such as tea bags, coffee filter papers, beads, stainless steel, chicken wire, fabric and natural fibers to create texture in my artwork .
I was first introduced to Powertex fabric hardener at a workshop in Joondalup, WA held by Planet Art, in 2007. Since that time, I have been fascinated by Powertex and how the method of using it works to change the dynamics of the weave structure, texture and movement in my work.
I have been extremely excited by the possibilities that this amazing medium offers, and being environmentally friendly, water based acid free and suitable for use with any porous material such as paper, fabric, stone, ceramics, wood, plaster etc... I felt that it presented an opportunity for me to take my artwork in new and innovative directions. I am continuing to experiment with Powertex in my work.
I am now a Certified Powertex Instructor and Consultant for Powertex products in WA and I run workshops from my home studio.
